how god looks at life

"I will re-establish My covenant with you, that you may know that I am the Lord." —Ezekiel 16:62

Although we broke the covenant (Ez 16:59), the Lord remembered the covenant (Ez 16:60), set up an everlasting new covenant (Ez 16:60), and re-established the old covenant (Ez 16:62). From Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David, God has kept the covenant on His mind. He promised us a new covenant (Jer 31:31). This was fulfilled by Jesus in the blood of the covenant which He gave us at the Last Supper and on the cross (Mt 26:28).

The greatest day of our lives is the day when we were baptized into Jesus' death and resurrection (Rm 6:3). We then go through life looking for every opportunity to live practically our baptismal covenant. Thus we love the Mass, for it is a renewal and deepening of our baptismal covenant. We even rejoice with the Lord over our repentance (Lk 15:7) and celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation by which we repair our unfaithfulness to the covenant. We seek God's will about applying our baptismal covenant by getting married, being a priest, choosing religious life, or living other vocations.

Live, breathe, think, walk, talk, pray, and proclaim your baptismal covenant.

Prayer:  Father, I covenant to love You unconditionally, completely, and forever.

Promise:  "Thus they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, let no man separate what God has joined." —Mt 19:6

Praise:  St. Stephen wrote: "Virtues...make up the royal crown and without them no one is fit to rule here on earth or attain to the heavenly kingdom."
