One Bread, One Body: Letter to Readers
Letter to Readers
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Praise Jesus crucified! Praise Jesus our Lord and Savior! Next week is Holy Week. We again follow Jesus to His Passion and death. But, thank God, it doesn't stop there! Jesus rises from the dead and is victorious over sin (1 Cor 15:57). Praise Jesus, our risen Savior! His victory is our victory, and now every knee shall bow at the name of Jesus (Is 45:23; Phil 2:10). It doesn't even stop there! The risen Lord ascends into heaven and sends the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8-9; Jn 14:26) to give us the Church and power over sin (1 Jn 2:1). Happy resurrection of Jesus! (Ps 118:24)
This Easter, we will again be asked to renew our baptismal promises. We are asked to respond to these questions "Do you renounce Satan?"... "And all his works?"... "And all his empty promises?"... Our response will be the most important decision a human being can make. Respond to his total love with your total love. Your "I do" can really mean a lot! If you are married, just ask your spouse how important "I do" is! This year, consider again making that "I do" have an even greater meaning by giving your total life to God. Decide to live for Him and not for yourself. Your total "I do" will change your life. That total gift of self will make all the difference in the world — for you and your brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus emptied himself. He humbled himself and was obedient unto death, even death on the cross (Phil 2:7-8). The martyrs sacrificed their lives for God, and that is what Jesus, our Friend, is calling us to do. "This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you" (Jn 15:12-14).
