Week 14 — Unconditional Love

"This is how all will know you for My disciples: by your love for one another." —John 13:35

Jump to day: Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat

Sunday

"God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him." —1 Jn 4:16

Conversation:

Abba: Children, I not only love; I AM Love. My love does not depend on your response. It is not mutual but unilateral. It is unconditional. I will love you even if you commit a grevious sin, if that's your decision. Choose to receive My love while you have a choice.
Children:Now we have it without even doing anything. We have nothing to do but thank You.

Response:

Love your enemies.

Monday

"The way we came to understand love was that He laid down His life for us; we too must lay down our lives for our brothers." —1 Jn 3:16

Conversation:

Abba: Children, the devil has confused the meaning of the word "love." Love is not just an emotion, feeling, or sexual relationship. Love is the commitment to lay down your lives for each other. The death of Jesus is how to understand love.
Children: Abba, we're confused about love; we've exposed ourselves to so much "garbage." We can't even understand ourselves (Rm 7:15). We've been conformed to the world and therefore deformed. We must be transformed by the Spirit and therefore reformed (Rm 12:2). May we come to know and believe in the love You have for us (1 Jn 4:16).

Response:

Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mt 22:37).

Tuesday

"Such as My love has been for you, so must your love be for each other." —Jn 13:34

Conversation:

Abba: Children, human beings have a strange expression, "making love." You can't "make love." You can only receive it. Love is a gift. I loved you first (1 Jn 4:19).
Children: Abba, how can we love others as You have loved us? "We're only human." Or rather, we were until You came to live in us. Now we share in Your divine nature (2 Pt 1:4).

Response:

Love yourselves and your neighbor as yourselves.

Wednesday

"If I speak with human tongues and angelic as well, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong, a clanging cymbal." —1 Cor 13:1

Conversation:

Abba: Children, you do some things without love. All these are wasted. If you're "love-bankrupt," stop what you're doing and pray. "Seek eagerly after love" (1 Cor 14:1).
Children: Abba, we begin to realize that of ourselves we can't love anyone, including ourselves, spouses, or children. We are totally dependent on You. In our weakness, the power of Your love will reach perfection (2 Cor 12:9).

Response:

Love someone you consider unlovable.

Thursday

"As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you. Live on in My love. You will live in My love if you keep My commandments, even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and live in His love." —Jn 15:9-10

Conversation:

Abba: Children, live love, live in love. Make love your home, your place of residence, your address. Live in love. Make it your atmosphere and environment. Live in love.
Children: Abba, we would have to be sinless to live always in love. We can't live in sin and live in love.
Abba: You're right. My grace is sufficient (2 Cor 12:9). You need not sin.

Response:

Love never fails (1 Cor 13:8).

Friday

"Above all, let your love for one another be constant, for love covers a multitude of sins." —1 Pt 4:8

Conversation:

Abba: Children, this is Friday, the day I died on the cross for you. "Greater love than this no man has" (Jn 15:13, our transl.). You're bought at the price of My blood. My love has covered all sins—past, present and future. Children: Abba, we will confess our sins. Otherwise we can't live in love.
Abba: There's more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents (Lk 15:7).

Response:

Love the Lord through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Saturday

"You are patient and endure hardship for My cause. Moreover, you do not become discouraged. I hold this against you, though: you have turned aside from your early love." —Rv 2:3-4

Conversation:

Abba: Children, "agape" is the Biblical word for my unconditional love. You used to call the Mass "agape," the "love-feast." Receive My Son Jesus in Holy Communion. You will also receive Me and the Spirit, since I am in Jesus and He in Me. Receive Communion. Receive love. Give love. Give Me. Give what you have received (Mt 10:8).
Children: Yes.

Response:

Love the Lord in Holy Communion
